SPAIN: FIRE AT CEPSA REFINERY

On November 9, 2007, in the evening the ESG received numerous calls from concerned individuals as well as Plataforma colleagues from Spain due to explosions and emergency flaring at the CEPSA Oil Refinery.

MEP PRESENTS DAMNING REPORT ON CAMPO POLLUTION TO EU COMMISSION

A detailed technical report commissioned by a British MEP and delivered to European environment commissioner Stavros Dimas last month contains a damning assessment of pollution levels in the Campo de Gibraltar. It concluded that “continuous and unsustainable” expansion of the Campo industrial base is creating “an increasingly hazardous environment” for residents in the area.

Gibraltar EU Parliment Member takes CEPSA refinery case to European Commission

Mr Parish also presented the Commissioner with an almost 14,000 strong petition of local residents and a technical report on the refinery that he commissioned, which was produced by Denny Larson of the Global Community Monitor.
