Case Study 4:
“The Hole:” The Liebold/Pleasant
Community in Detroit
The community is impacted by a
wastewater treatment plant, demolition and construction of nearby bridges and
highways, and some of the heaviest concentration of industry in the Midwest.
One of the issues is toxic gases seeping into homes from the basement sewer
lines, which one resident identified by taking an air sample inside of her
home with her bucket from Global Community Monitoring.
